weekly support groups

Our weekly support groups are facilitated by licensed family therapists and are available to people with any type or stage of cancer. We also have groups for caretakers, friends, spouses, and family members of someone with cancer. In order to join a group, we ask that you first attend one of our "Welcome to Wellness" meetings, which are held every Friday at 11:00am, or every Monday evening at 6:00pm. This introductory session provides the background, purpose, and philosophy of our program.

It is our hope and desire that you will find strength, hope, and friendship from your support group to help encourage you in your fight for recovery. All groups listed here meet at our Redondo Beach facility, 109 W. Torrance Blvd., Redondo Beach, CA 90277. Below are the weekly meeting times:

networking groups

Networking groups provide an opportunity for participants as well as their loved ones to meet with others facing a similar cancer diagnosis like prostate, lung, breast, etc or side effect, such as lymphedema. While these groups meet less frequently than "the heart of our program," weekly groups, they can provide the basis for participants to build a Community of support.

family and partners group is the place for support persons so they can learn to care for themselves; and there-by they can become the best caregiver or support person for their loved one

newly diagnosed breast cancer groups offer women the time and place to explore their own feeling and to find support with others; these groups are open ended, providing information and emotional support

family/partners group

Every Monday, 6:00pm to 8:00pm
these groups are for people whose loved one has died from cancer; usually reserved for support persons who have attended one of the Wellness Community family groups. call for more information

family transition group

for all types of survivors and their support persons who have completed their treatment and who would like to keep in contact with other survivors. newer information and research now offers people a 'life after cancer' with medical, social, physical, emotional and spiritual choices never before considered possible.

networking groups

Networking groups meet less frequently than our weekly groups. These groups offer participants and their support persons opportunities to meet with others who are facing treatment similar cancer, such as lung, leukemia, breast, etc. or treatment side effects, such as lymphedema. While these groups don't meet as often as "the heart of our program weekly groups," they do engender in those attending a feeling of Community. The networking groups are all drop-in. You don't need to attend a Welcome to Wellness meeting before coming to the networking group.

completing treatment for any patient can be a time for celebration and a time for new anxieties; learning to traverse the 'survivorship' experience requires community, information and preparation. this group is for those women no longer in active treatment.
